Getting to Vietnam

Vietnam is a long haul destination with a minimum flying time of approximately sixteen (16) hours from the United States. It is best to fly from a West Coast Airport such as Los Angeles (LAX). There are currently no direct flights from the United States to Vietnam available- most flights connect through Japan or Taiwan. Ho Chi Minh City

A trip to Vietnam would not be complete without visiting the iconic Ho Chi Minh City. This pulsating city is distinctly modern, with infusions of colonial heritage that speaks to the history of the city. Ho Chi Minh City was a pivotal part of the Vietnam Wars, and the War Remnants Museum includes preserved artefacts of the different wars and conflicts that the city and the country, in general, have been through over the years. A visit to this museum is an excellent place to start your tour through Vietnam to get a historical perspective of the city. Another alluring attraction in Ho Chi Minh City is the Cu Chi Tunnels. These tunnels were made famous during the Vietnamese wars, serving as a hiding place, supply route, storage spot, living quarters and hospital for the soldiers involved in the wars. These tunnels are preserved in their original form and visitors with surreal and first-hand experiences of what the combat armies went through during the wars. The Cu Chi tunnels are one of the most popular attractions in Ho Chi Minh City. Other attractions of note in the city are; the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Municipal Theatre, the Museum of Vietnamese History, the Ben Thanh Market and Independence Palace. Ha Long Bay

Hai Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site inclusive of over 1600 islands and is one of the most picturesque places in Vietnam with crystal clear waters and unspoiled rainforest. Some of the places to visit in Ha Long Bay include Tuan Chau Island, Bai Tu Long Bay, Dragon Park Ha Long and the Quang Ninh Museum. Phu Quoc Island

Hoi An

Hoi An, which is also known as the City of Lanterns due to the presence of a variety of different picturesque lanterns been visible at nights, is a small historic town in central Vietnam. The town is filled with ancient Temples, beaches and delectable local fresh food options coming straight from the local farms. The dreamy town also includes some pristine beaches for you to enjoy! Some of the top sites in Hoi An are the An Bang Beach, the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Quan Cong Temple, the Hoi An Museum and the Precious Heritage Art Gallery Museum. Hoi An is another destination of note in Vietnam that is worth a visit.

The Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta is the region of Southern Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and then empties into the sea. This extremely flat region is known for its floating markets, wetlands, and parks. One of the most alluring attractions in Mekong is the Cai Be Floating Market which is accessible by boat only; you can get a wide variety of local fruits, vegetables, street food and many other items from the many local suppliers who trade their wares while cruising along the picturesque Tien river. This is an experience of a lifetime that you should definitely not miss when in Vietnam. The Mekong Delta is also home to several eco-tourism attractions such as Tram Chim National Park, Phu Quoc National Park, Suoi Waterfalls and U Minh Ha National Park. There are stunning white sand beaches on the Mekong Delta, including the Ong Lang Beach.

When to Visit Vietnam

Vietnam enjoys tropical temperatures throughout the year, making the country a year-round destination. However, if you want to visit when the temperatures are moderate, and rainfall is minimal, you should visit in the February to April or August to October.
